Malingering in the native army is a subject we very seldom see alluded toby Army Surgeons. Is it possible, then, that it so seldom occurs as not to attract attention ? I think not, and knowing the calculated guile and cunning of the low class natire, the subject is one of importance, and deserves some small attention. If tlio subject were well ventilated by the experience of surgeons being added together, much good would result, both in the detection and suppression of the deceit. As the intention of malingering is either to screen from merited punishment, or to shirk duty, how the scoundrel (and he is one who resorts to deceitful practices) must chuckle over the Doctor Sahib 011 effecting his purpose ! I have at present a very vivid recollection of three cases of malingering among sepoys that came under my own notice.
